Our Mission Statement
Build A Yes Jazz Music Society is a 501c3 nonprofit organization whose mission is to create more “YES” opportunities for musicians and the community they serve. This endeavor aims to offer solutions to some of the problems many hardworking musicians in our community face.
A message from our founder Kendrick Smith
Two Decades
I have actively been a part of the St. Louis and East St.Louis music scene for nearly two decades. In that time I have garnered many relationships with mentors, gained the respect and trust of my musical peers and have had the opportunity to pay it forward by helping and mentoring others.
New Roads
The road to pursuing the arts can sometimes be demanding and quite rigorous. Build A Yes Jazz Music Society will be an organization that creates new roads of infrastructure to allow musicians to develop their art in various ways.
100 Years of history
Our metropolitan area has a rich and often forgotten musical history. Build A Yes plans to revitalize our community by bringing awareness to the great musicians that have been a part of our music scene for over 100 years. Thereby building a bridge that establishes a sense of pride between past, present and future generations of artists.
